Monday 13th May - Salsa Contenido de la Nevera
Some might argue that today's highlight was breakfast. Smashed avocado and poached eggs on toast. Yummy. There was little else photogenic about the morning as we made the most of having a washing machine in the flat and caught up with various administrative chores. Tomorrow we move on to Bilbao for a short stop.
It's not a bad drying day and we set the airer out on the balcony. Once the washing is finished it is time to head to the supermercado. D is being allowed the treat of a visit to the massive Carrefour hypermarket in Torrelavega, close to the Mercadona where we do our food shopping.
Carrefour is having a sale of some sort and for a mere €4.99 we bag an all singing and dancing 2-pin USB charger. Turns out that it works splendidly. Even better they have a cash machine that allows us withdraw euros without paying additional fees.
At the Mercadona we top up on essentials such as Ship's Biscuits. Christopher Columbus knew a good thing when he saw it. Back at base we polish off the remains of the paella for lunch. R feels the need to rest her knee so D heads out for a town walk.
There may be those who consider Renedo to be just a bump in the road but there is no doubting the town's diverse cultures.
As a siderodromologist D can only stand in awe of the railway over bridge at the west end of town. Stitch that Amazon Prime.
